Dr. Profit (aka Bill Erichson) Bill 'Dr. Profit' Erichson is a business trainer, author and consultant based in British Columbia's Lower Mainland. He began as a Seminar Leader with the Federal Business Development Bank, now the Business Development Bank of Canada. After six years of teaching others how to start and operate a successful business, Bill founded Pacific Training Innovations Ltd. in 1992. "The problem with traditional business training" says Erichson, "is that it is overly specialized. Finance, marketing, operations and human resources are separate functions, but they all affect each other. For example, price is usually considered part of marketing, however, price affects revenue (finance), production volume (manufacturing) and should be taken into account during design (engineering)." Over the past several years, Bill has turned his attention to business growth. Where most authors and trainers focus on how to grow a business -- Bill examines what happens when a business grows. "There are many ways to grow a business," says Bill, "and that growth causes certain inevitable problems. Issues such as cash flow problems and high staff turnover are often symptoms of a larger growth problem." Bill has spoken to thousands of entrepreneurs across Canada. His wit and humour are matched only by his knowledge of business subjects. He is as comfortable analyzing your financial statements as his is reviewing your marketing plan or developing an interviewing outline. Bill is a graduate of Simon Fraser University in Commerce and Mathematics. If you need help with a pressing challenge or a speaking engagement, send him an e-mail and if you are lucky he may not only solve your problem but share the solution with our readers.
